The Top-Selling Vehicles in the U.S Automotive Market for 2006
In 2006, the U.S. auto market was dominated by trucks and SUVs, particularly those from domestic automakers. The list of best-selling vehicles typically was led by full-size pickup trucks. Once again the Ford F-Series continued it’s reign at the top. This pickup truck has been a perennial best-seller in the U.S. for decades, and 2006 was no exception. Another full-size pickup truck, the Chevrolet Silverado has consistently been at or near the top of the sales charts. The Dodge Ram which is Dodge’s full-size pickup was also a popular choice among U.S. buyers.
When it comes to passenger cars, the Toyota Camry has been a top-selling passenger car in the U.S. for many years, known for its reliability and value. Like the Camry, the Honda Accord has long been a top choice for those in the market for a reliable and fuel-efficient passenger car. The Toyota Corolla is a compact car that has found favor due to its efficiency and reliability. Another compact car that has consistently been popular in the U.S. market is the Honda Civic, while the Chevrolet Impala saw good sales numbers during this period in the large car segment. The Nissan Altima was becoming increasingly popular in the mid-2000s as was the Ford Explorer, one of the top-selling SUVs during a time when SUV sales were very strong.
