Toyota Urban Cruiser Overview
The “Urban Cruiser” name was first used in some European markets for a small SUV that was essentially a rebadged version of the Japanese-market Toyota ist (or the North American-market Scion xD). This version was introduced around 2008. More recently, around 2020, Toyota reintroduced the “Urban Cruiser” name in India, this time for a rebadged version of the Suzuki Vitara Brezza as part of a collaboration between Toyota and Suzuki. This newer Urban Cruiser is also a compact SUV but is distinct from the earlier European model. It showcases a bolder design that aligns more closely with modern compact SUV aesthetics.
The Urban Cruiser is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 105 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. It is available with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions. The Urban Cruiser is available in two trim levels: GX and VX. The GX trim comes standard with features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth, and a rearview camera. The VX trim adds features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a JBL sound system, and a sunroof.
The Urban Cruiser is a good choice for those looking for a small and fuel-efficient SUV. It is also a good choice for those who need an SUV with good ground clearance. The Urban Cruiser is not available in the United States. However, it is available in India, South Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
