Suzuki Across

The Suzuki Across is a rebadged Toyota RAV4 PHEV, and as such it’s only available as a plug-in hybrid. It was introduced in Europe to lower the brand’s fleet CO2 emissions. Notably, it’s a product of the collaboration between Suzuki and Toyota, with the Across essentially being a rebadged version of the Toyota RAV4 Prime, Toyota’s plug-in hybrid variant of its popular RAV4 SUV.

Suzuki Across Overview

Introduced in 2020, the Suzuki Across is a direct result of the partnership between Suzuki and Toyota to share models and technology. While it’s essentially a rebadged RAV4 Prime, there are distinct visual differences to set the two apart. Externally, the Across has a distinctive front-end design, different from the RAV4, with a unique grille, headlights, and bumper. However, aside from these changes and some badging, the rest of the vehicle remains very similar to the Toyota counterpart. Internally, the cabin layout, features, and materials closely mirror those found in the RAV4 Prime.

The Across is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that is paired with an electric motor. The total system output is 215 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. It is all-wheel drive and has a driving range of up to 252 miles on a single charge. The Across is available in two trim levels: Premium and Adventure. The Premium trim comes standard with features like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a JBL sound system. The Adventure trim adds features like a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad, and a heated steering wheel.

The Suzuki Across fills a gap in Suzuki’s lineup for a larger, more premium SUV with advanced electrified powertrain options. As Suzuki’s range primarily consists of smaller vehicles and off-roaders, the Across provides a more road-focused, eco-friendly option for those loyal to the brand. By leveraging Toyota’s existing technology and platform, Suzuki was able to enter the plug-in hybrid SUV segment more rapidly and efficiently than if they had developed such a vehicle independently.
