Soueast China Sales Figures & Recent Highlights
Soueast (or South East Motor) is a Chinese automobile manufacturer headquartered in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. It was established in the early 1990s and has been producing a range of passenger cars primarily for the domestic market. Soueast was originally founded as a joint venture between China Motor Corporation of Taiwan and Fujian Automotive Industry Group Co., Ltd., a Chinese state-owned enterprise. Mitsubishi Motors later joined the venture, providing technical cooperation and sharing certain vehicle platforms with Soueast.
Over the years, Soueast has produced a range of vehicles, from sedans and hatchbacks to SUVs and MPVs. Some of these vehicles were based on older Mitsubishi models due to the technical cooperation between the companies. The brand has introduced models like the Soueast V3, V5, and the DX series, among others.
While initially relying heavily on technology and platform sharing with Mitsubishi, Soueast has made efforts to develop its own brand identity and models. This transition is in line with many other Chinese automakers aiming to establish strong domestic brands. While Soueast isn’t as globally recognized as some larger Chinese automotive giants, it has maintained a steady presence in the domestic Chinese market. The brand caters to the affordable segment, aiming to provide value for money.
Soueast has expressed intentions to explore overseas markets, and there have been exports to certain regions, especially in Southeast Asia and parts of the Middle East and North Africa. However, the primary focus remains the domestic Chinese market.
