Ram Sales Data, Trends, Analysis & Current Lineup for the U.S Automotive Market
This is your hub for all of the Ram sales data for the U.S market. RAM is a brand spun off from Dodge in 2009 to sell commercial vehicles for what was then the Chrysler group (now Fiat-Chrysler). It was a decision that surprised many, given that Dodge was a brand in large part defined by its RAM pickup truck (RAM being the model name), and given that the likes of Mercedes-Benz, VW, Renault, Fiat and others have for decades successfully sold commercial vehicles under the same brand as their passenger cars. Nonetheless, the brand has managed to quickly establish a foothold, building on the strength of the RAM name, a newly-competitive large pickup model and a couple of new small and large cargo vans sourced from Fiat’s European arm.
Ram is an American brand of light to mid-weight commercial vehicles. This new brand was originally a part of the Dodge marquee and marketed using the name of Ram Pickup line of trucks until it was spun off as a separate brand.
The Ram brand was established in order to create a new identity aside from the mainstream Dodge brand. The brand logo features the head of a ram, formerly the logo used by Dodge. Today, the brand focuses on developing and designing pickup trucks for real truck customers rather. Recognized as one of the brands with the best reputations in the world, trucks sold under RAM have won the ‘Truck of the Year’ award numerous times.
Ram U.S Sales Figures & Recent Highlights
Ram is one of the best selling brands in the US. They are now ranked as the number two truck brand in the US after seeing its sales surge in 2019 and took over Chevrolet. In total, Ram saw its US pickup truck sales rise to 703,023 units.
Ram’s 2019 pickup truck sales represent an 18-percent increase over the previous year, and they set a new record for the brand since it spun off from FCA’s Dodge in 2009. We can expect Ram to increase its sales even more for the next calendar year as the sales and popularity of all their current lineup increased from 2018.
The pickup still accounts for more than 90% of the brands’ sales, though that is partly driven by that model’s staggering growth in recent years – its sales tripled between 2009 and 2018 and reached record sales again in 2019, even surpassing the Chevrolet Silverado for the #2 spot in overall US sales. Despite challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ram performed relatively well and this resilience can be attributed to the strong demand for trucks in the U.S. market even amidst economic uncertainties.
One of the significant highlights was the introduction of the redesigned Ram 1500 for the 2019 model year. This new model was lauded for its luxurious interior, technology features, and overall driving dynamics. It received numerous awards and played a vital role in boosting the brand’s sales figures. In 2020, Ram introduced the 1500 TRX, a high-performance off-road variant of the Ram 1500. With a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 702 horsepower, it was positioned as a direct competitor to the Ford F-150 Raptor.
Ram introduced high-end trims like the Limited, Laramie Longhorn, and others, emphasizing luxury features, advanced technology, and high-quality materials. The brand aimed to cater to buyers looking for premium features in their trucks.
