From a low of just over 110,000 sales in 2002, the market peaked at almost 175,000 sales five years later, before dropping 30% in two years time. From 2011 to 2014 the market has been relatively stable around 170,000 annual sales, before setting three consecutive annual records from 2015 to 2017. Sales dipped again in 2018 and 2019 with passenger car sales down but light commercial vehicle sales still up. The share of LCV sales of total car sales in Norway peaked in 2008 at 28%, way above the average of 21%, but have since dipped to an average of 18% since 2012 as the passenger car market has grown faster.

Per end of 2016, 5% of all the cars on Norwegian roads had electric charging capabilities, with a market concentration of 21,5 registered plug-in cars per 1.000 persons, numbers that have naturally only increased since.
Norway Automotive Sales Data & Recent Highlights

There are a number of factors that have contributed to the growth of the Norwegian EV market. These include:
- Government incentives: The Norwegian government offers a number of incentives for people to buy EVs, including tax breaks, free parking, and access to bus lanes.
- Infrastructure: Norway has a well-developed charging infrastructure, with over 20,000 public chargers available across the country.

Despite the growth of the EV market, there are still some challenges that need to be addressed. These include:
