1st Generation – 300 SL (W198; 1954-1963)

The first generation of the SL was called the 300 SL Gullwing and was known for its iconic gullwing doors. It was powered by a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine that produced 215 horsepower. It is famous for its distinctive gull-wing doors (coupe version) and was known as the “Gullwing” and later as the Roadster. Notable for direct fuel injection, a first for a production car.

2nd Generation – (W113; 1963-1971)
