Maple China Sales Figures & Recent Highlights

Maple Automobile was originally co-founded by Geely and Shanghai Maple Guorun Automobile Co., Ltd. in the early 2000s. Over the years, Geely took more control over the operations of Maple, and it has become one of the many sub-brands under the Geely conglomerate. In its early years, Maple primarily focused on producing affordable compact cars and sedans tailored for the domestic Chinese market. As the market evolved, so did the brand. With Geely’s push towards electrification and alternative energy solutions, Maple has transitioned into producing electric and hybrid vehicles.

Post-2020, Maple emphasized its electric vehicle (EV) lineup. This is in line with China’s aggressive push towards EVs and the broader global trend of electrification in the automotive industry. One of Maple’s notable EVs is the Maple 30x EV, an affordable compact electric SUV.

Maple’s strategy often revolves around offering cost-effective solutions. Their EVs, for example, tend to be more affordable compared to many competitors, making them appealing to a broader segment of the population, especially those looking for a budget-friendly entry into the EV market. This approach has given the brand an advantage in both urban and semi-urban regions of China.

Like any other brand in the Chinese automotive market, Maple faces intense competition. China’s EV market is especially crowded, with numerous domestic brands and foreign brands vying for market share. The challenges of ensuring quality, increasing range, and improving technology while keeping costs low are significant for Maple, as they are for other manufacturers in the segment. Being under the Geely umbrella provides Maple with several advantages. Geely’s resources, R&D capabilities, and established market presence can bolster Maple’s endeavors, especially as the brand navigates the complex landscape of electric mobility.
