Huansu Auto was launched in 2014 and is based in Chongqing in Southwest China. Huansu is a brand of the Beiqi-Yinxiang Joint Venture between Beijing Auto (BAIC) and Yinxiang Motorcycle Group. This JV also produces the Bisu brand since late 2016. Huansu is one of the sub-brands of the Beijing Automotive Industry Group Co., Ltd., commonly known as BAIC Group, a major Chinese automaker. The Huansu brand primarily focuses on producing budget-friendly SUVs and MPVs for the Chinese domestic market. Huansu, translating roughly to “Magic Speed,” is one of several brands under the umbrella of BAIC Group. BAIC, being one of China’s largest state-owned automobile and machine conglomerates, established the Huansu brand to tap into the growing SUV and MPV segments of the Chinese market.

Huansu’s lineup consists mainly of affordable SUVs and MPVs. These vehicles are typically designed with the Chinese mass market in mind, prioritizing cost-effectiveness and practicality. Many Chinese automakers, including BAIC’s sub-brands, have at times been criticized for design similarities to established Western and Korean car models. Huansu, in its early models, was no exception. However, like many domestic Chinese automakers, the brand has been moving towards establishing its design identity and improving overall product quality.

BAIC has extensive joint ventures and partnerships with international automakers, giving it access to global design and production standards. These partnerships help uplift the overall quality and standards of BAIC’s subsidiary brands, including Huansu. The brand targets the budget segment of the Chinese auto market, aiming to provide reliable vehicles for cost-conscious consumers.
