Introduced in 2006 for the 2007 model year, the Ford Edge was part of Ford’s strategy to capture the burgeoning market for crossover SUVs, which combined the utility of traditional SUVs with the ride and efficiency of passenger cars. The Edge is based on the Ford CD3 platform, which it shares with several other Ford models including the Ford Fusion.
Over the years, the Ford Edge has seen various design evolutions, with an emphasis on a bolder and more aerodynamic exterior. The interior has been noted for its comfort and the inclusion of modern technology features. The Edge has typically been offered with V6 engine options, providing a balance between power and efficiency. The Edge is available in two body styles: a five-passenger SUV and a seven-passenger SUV. It is also available in a variety of trim levels, including the base SE, the SEL, the ST-Line, the Titanium, and the Platinum.
