CNN REPORTS ON MPH SLOWING

When The Good Car Dad took off with another son for a long drive into our neighbouring province, his Subaru Outback returned a 10% improvement in fuel efficiency at 110 km/h compared with his usual speed of 120km/h. A previous trip to Prince Edward Island with an unloaded car and just one passenger, rather than three, saw a 15% gain in efficiency.

That’s an example from close to home. Here’s “The Most Trusted Name in News” and their version of the slow-down story. One can only assume that the upstate New York therapist has complained about the price of fuel and one can only assume that too many of us car lovers will struggle with this theory. That doesn’t make it any less true.
