The BYD F3DM is the Plug-In hybrid electric version of the BYD F3 sedan, and DM is short for Dual Mode. The BYD F3DM was a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) produced by BYD Auto, a Chinese automaker. It was introduced in 2008 and was discontinued in 2012. The F3DM was the world’s first mass-produced plug-in hybrid car. It had a 60-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack that provided an all-electric range of 60 kilometers (37 miles). It also had a 1.0-liter gasoline engine that could be used to extend the range or to provide power for the car’s electric motors.
