Saab 9-7X Sales Figures

Saab 9-7X

Here you will find yearly Canadian and U.S. sales figures for the expired, Chevrolet TrailBlazer-based Saab 9-7X.

Saab 9-7X Overview

The Saab 9-7X was an interesting departure from Saab’s traditional lineup, primarily because it was the brand’s only entry into the mid-size SUV market. Produced between 2005 and 2009, the 9-7X was essentially a rebranded and upscale version of General Motors SUVs, given that Saab was owned by GM at the time.

The 9-7X was built on GM’s GMT360 platform, which was shared with several other vehicles, including the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, Oldsmobile Bravada, and Isuzu Ascender. The decision to produce the 9-7X was largely driven by the need to tap into the lucrative SUV market in North America and provide Saab dealerships with a broader product range.

While it shared a platform with other GM SUVs, the 9-7X had distinctive Saab design touches, including the recognizable Saab grille, unique alloy wheels, and specific interior trim. Inside, the 9-7X featured a cockpit-inspired dashboard layout consistent with Saab’s design ethos, and the ignition switch was traditionally located between the front seats. The SUV also boasted premium features like leather seating, all-wheel drive, air suspension, and a moonroof.

Engine options included a 4.2-liter inline-six, a 5.3-liter V8, and for the performance-oriented Aero variant, a 6.0-liter V8. With the 6.0-liter V8 in the Aero model, the 9-7X was capable of quite spirited performance, especially for an SUV of its size.

Saab 9-7X Sales Figures

While the 9-7X did offer certain Saab traits and a level of luxury, some purists felt it wasn’t a true representation of the brand, given its shared American roots and the deviation from Saab’s traditional European design and engineering. However, the 9-7X did find its audience, especially in North America, where the demand for SUVs was (and still is) strong.
