For fans of anything Italian or beautiful, September 12th, 2006 was their lucky day. The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione – arguably the best looking Alfa Romeo ever – was ready for production and was released at the Paris Motor Show. Its borrowed heavily from Maserati talent, which is reflected in both the chassis and engine choices. It was a low-volume sports car, and the only Alfa Romeo in modern history to compete in the exotic car segment.
With a 450 bhp V8 designed by in cooperation with Maserati, the Competizione remains true to its 8C heritage. The same designation was first used on Alfa’s eight cylinder prewar supercars which dominated motor sport during their best years. Of these cars, the 8C 2900 is the ultimate expression and won the best races as well as became a prestigious grand tourer.
