Sales of New Cars In Albania – Data, Trends, Charts & Analysis

Albania, on Southeastern Europe’s Balkan Peninsula, is a small country with Adriatic and Ionian coastlines and an interior crossed by the Albanian Alps. Here you will find annual car sales figures for Albania. These statistics are Total Market Volumes, which include passenger cars as well as light commercial vehicles (LCVs). These figures come from unconfirmed sources and can vary slightly from other data you may find elsewhere.

Despite our best efforts to find the most reliable data, we can’t guarantee 100% accuracy, unless a specific source is mentioned below the table. Still, we’re confident the provided data is sufficiently indicative of the size and trend of the market to be published as such. If you have access to a confirmed source of Albanian car sales figures, including a split between Passenger Cars and LCVs, or data going back before 2005, please get in touch with us.

Under 1% of the cars on the roads in Albania are less than two years old, according to data compiled by the EU’s statistics office Eurostat. Albania, followed by neighboring North Macedonia, has the oldest car fleet out of 29 countries assessed by Eurostat, including EU members, EEA countries and candidate countries. Data was not available for the remaining Western Balkan states. As of 2020, out of Albania’s fleet of 539,497 cars only 4,077 were under two years old and a further 11,595 were between two and five years old. The majority – 311,525 – were 10 to 20 years old and a further 180,834 were more than 20 years old.

Albanian auto sales were largely impacted by both the pandemic and then the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has hampered demand in the entire region.
