North American Passenger Car Sales for 2012
In 2012, the North American car sales continued to demonstrate positive growth and recovery from the effects of the global financial crisis. The total number of vehicles sold in North America in 2012 was approximately 14.5 million. This figure includes both cars and light trucks. Passenger car sales came in at 8.8 million units in North America, once again largely driven by the sheer size of the U.S market.
The North American economy continued to strengthen, leading to improved consumer confidence and spending. Factors such as declining unemployment rates, easier access to credit, and a more stable financial environment contributed to the growth in car sales. As the economy improved, consumers regained confidence in making major purchases, including new vehicles. This resulted in increased demand for cars and light trucks.
