Africa Passenger Car Sales for 2011

In 2011, the African automotive market continued to show signs of recovery and growth in many countries. Economic conditions improved, leading to increased consumer purchasing power and higher demand for vehicles. South Africa remained the largest car market in Africa in 2011. The country’s automotive industry experienced steady growth, and car sales continued to increase. Popular car brands such as Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz maintained their strong presence and saw improved sales figures. The total passenger car market in South Africa grew almost 18% to 396k new units.

Countries like Egypt, Morocco, and Algeria also witnessed a positive trend in car sales. The automotive markets in these countries showed signs of recovery and growth. Egypt’s automotive industry experienced improvement at 9% growth, and both Morocco and Algeria attracted investment in their automotive sectors. Algeria grew a huge 69% thanks to these investments.
