Zotye is a brand of Zotye Auto which produces and markets cars under the Zotye and Jiangnan (sub-)brands in China. Zotye is one of the few Chinese brands actively investing in developing electric cars for the domestic market.
Zotye (众泰) is a Chinese automobile manufacturer headquartered in Yongkang, Zhejiang, China. It was founded in 2005 and produces a wide range of vehicles, including cars, SUVs, MPVs, and electric vehicles. Zotye cars are known for their affordable pricing and stylish design. The brand’s most popular models in China include the Zotye T600, a compact SUV, and the Zotye Domy X5, a mid-size SUV.
However, Zotye has also been criticized for its copycat designs. In 2017, Zotye was accused of copying the design of the Porsche Macan with its Zotye SR9. Zotye was also accused of copying the design of the Volkswagen Beetle with its Zotye E200. In 2021, Zotye entered bankruptcy and liquidation proceedings. The company’s production resumed in December 2022, but it is unclear how the company will perform in the future.
