Nissan Tiida
The Nissan Tiida was introduced in 2007 as a replacement to the Nissan Almera. It was withdrawn from the market in 2011 without a direct successor, as Nissan believed the Qashqai midsized crossover would be more successful than another compact hatchback. In 2014, Nissan introduced its latest compact hatchback, the Nissan Pulsar. The Tiida was primarily known in the North American market as the Nissan Versa, while in other markets, such as Europe, it was often referred to as the Nissan Note.
Nissan Tiida Overview
The Nissan Tiida is a compact car produced by the Japanese automaker Nissan. The Nissan Tiida was introduced in 2004 as a successor to the Nissan Pulsar/Sentra/Sunny lineup, depending on the market. The Tiida has gone through multiple generations, with both hatchback and sedan body styles available.
The Tiida/Versa offered a range of petrol engines, primarily inline-four configurations, with displacements ranging from 1.5L to 1.8L. It wasn’t marketed as a performance vehicle but rather as an affordable, reliable, and efficient compact car suitable for city driving and daily commuting. Over the years, the Tiida received various updates in terms of interior comfort, technology, and safety features. Depending on the trim level and market, features such as infotainment systems, airbags, ABS, and electronic stability control were available.
The Tiida, especially in its Versa form, gained substantial popularity in markets like North America due to its affordability, fuel efficiency, and the reputation of Nissan for producing reliable vehicles. While the Tiida nameplate continued into the 2010s, Nissan started to phase out the name in some markets, favoring names like Versa and Note, especially for newer generations.
