At least as far as North America goes, Stefan Jacoby (US Volkswagen chief) says the R32 and GTI are enough. The niche is full, he suggests in an i-view with Car&Driver. “The [2009 Scirocco] is lovely, but we can’t have everything”, Jacoby says, because he believes they need to press on with their core products.
