Huansu S5
The Beijing Huansu S5 shares its platform with the Beijing Senova X55 and the Senova D50, which is based on that of the old Saab 9-3. Huansu (Chinese for ‘Magic Speed’) is a sub-brand from BAIC. Its vehicles are produced by Beiqi Yinxiang Automobile, which is a Joint Venture between BAIC Beijing Auto (Beiqi) and the Yinxiang Motorcycle Group.

The engine of the S5 is new and it will be launched in many more models under the BAIC umbrella, among others the Bisu T3. It’s a 1,3-liter turbo with 133hp/185Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. Dimensions are 4.405/1.809/1.685mm with a 2.650mm wheelbase. Prices are lower than the Senova X55 at 69.800 to 79.800 yuan (€ 9.400,-/US$ 10,100 to € 10.750,-/US$ 11,550). Other competitors are the Changan CS35, Chery Tiggo 3 and Dongfeng Fengshen AX3.
