One day after the Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebring came under criticism here at GoodCarBadCar.net when news surfaced of a recall, we discover that Volkswagen’s once-lauded Passat will be recalled as well.
410,000 Passats built between 1999 and 2005 will head to VW dealers once notification begins in late May. If your Passat is powered by gasoline there may be a lack of heat shielding. If your Passat is powered by the 1.8 turbo, fuel line problems could pose issues as well. And, if your Passat sends power to all four wheels, fuel tank ventilation valves could be damaged.
It sounds as though the people with the Volkswagen Passats in 1.8T 4Motion form are about to receive a fair number of hours of free service from their VW dealer.
