Ferrari’s least charismatic and most unappealing current car, the 612 Scaglietti is being recalled. Just 366 such vehicles, built from ’05-’07 with the F1 gearbox only, will be headed back to their Ferrari dealership for a new sensor as well as a new cable holder and magnet, according to NHTSA. F1 transmissions are historically a bit questionable, only improving very recently in quality terms. Nevertheless, most 612s would be of the F1-paddleshift variety.
Says the official recall: “A NONCONFORMING CLUTCH SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION COULD MALFUNCTION UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS DUE TO THE HEAT PRODUCED BY THE VEHICLE.”
