BYD D1 EV Sales Data & Trends
The BYD D1 is an electric car specifically designed for use as a taxi and for ride hailing. It was co-developed with DiDi Chuxing, the Chinese rival to Uber and Grab. All-electric range according to the NEDC cycle is 418 km (260 miles) from a roughly 50kWh battery, with an energy consumption of 12.8 kWh/100 km. The electric motor has a peak system output of 100 kW and 180 Nm of torque, giving the D1 a top speed of 130 km/h (81 mph). Dimensions are 4,390/1,850/1,650m.
DiDi and BYD are planning to put 100,000 units of the D1 in use in 2021, and this could expand to a fleet of 1 million units on the streets by the end of 2025. If that seems like a lot, take a look at some of the stats for the ride hailing platform:
