Exactly one month ago, even at this time of the morning, The Good Car Guy published a complete report on Hyundai Canada’s sales success. Once again, Hyundai’s Sales Stats in Canada are very impressive; only this time we’re talking about September rather than August. Yes, Hyundai Canada is having trouble getting rid of the Sonata. The advent of the Genesis is making it difficult to sell the Azera. And the reality of a soon-coming all-new Tucson makes the current Tucson a tough sell. Also, the Veracruz sells at an average of less than 1 per dealer per month.
Overall, however, Hyundai sold 9,282 automobiles in September of 2009. That’s a 30.8% increase over September of 2008, or 2,187 more vehicles sold last month than in the same period of 2008. For all the details of Hyundai Canada’s September success, click through the jump.
5 – months in 2009 in which Hyundai Canada sold more cars; so by one measurement, Hyundai sales are down, a fact that’s completely attributable to the season as the 10K+ sales months were the preceding five

114 – total Hyundai Veracruz sales in September of 2009

It's not a bad thing to sell a whole bunch of cars but imagine Hyundai's strength if the vast majority of their sales weren't wrapped up in the very very bottom of their model range where they sell cars in Canada right now for way way less than the sticker.
Better to sell a lot of something than few of a lot of things. these are genuinely gigantic numbers for Hyundai and so much of the increase didn't come as a reesult of new models. it's Santa Fe and Elantra. on the right track.
Would love to see the Touring / Elantra sedan split. We know the Touring is a minor hit in Canada, but how much of a hit?
And Hyundai has another hit on the horizon, the new Tucson, which is based on the i30 platform on which the Elantra Touring is based. It looks great!
@Dhalgren Hyundai sold 2,039 Elantra sedans in Canada in September That's 129.4% more than the 889 they sold in September of '08. Hyundai also sold 830 Elantra Tourings in September in Canada, almost as many wagons last month as they sold sedans in the same time period of '08.
