2006 U.S. Vehicle Sales Rankings – Every Vehicle Ranked By Sales Volume
Looking back in time, GoodCarBadCar has generated a sales table for 2006. 301 different vehicle nameplates found buyers in the United States, down from the 311 which were sold in 2005. As always, the Ford F-Series was America’s best-selling vehicle line. If there was one trend to be spotted in 2006, it was the slowing pickup truck market.
Indeed, the overall U.S. new vehicle market fell 2.6% in 2006, a 437,578-unit -year-over-year decrease. Multiple trucks, including the first, second, third, and fourth-best-selling pickups, posted decreases worse than the overall market’s decline. America’s best-selling passenger car in 2006 was the Toyota Camry. The Dodge Grand Caravan, America’s top-selling minivan, outsold America’s favorite SUV, the Ford Explorer, by nearly 32,000 units. The most popular premium brand vehicle was the BMW 3-Series, in 37th spot.
