Subaru WRX Generations

1st Generation (1992–2000)

Part of the Subaru Impreza lineup, the first WRX models featured turbocharged engines and all-wheel-drive systems that made them highly competitive in rally racing. The high-performance STI (Subaru Tecnica International) variant was introduced during this period.

2nd Generation (2000–2007)

The second generation continued to build on the rally-inspired design and performance. It saw further refinement in the engine and handling departments, as well as the introduction of the WRX STI in the U.S. market in 2004.

3rd Generation (2007–2014)

The third generation marked a departure from the Impreza name, with Subaru marketing the WRX and WRX STI as standalone models. This generation offered improvements in interior quality, technology, and safety features.

4th Generation (2014–2021)

The fourth generation further differentiated the WRX from the standard Impreza, with unique body panels and more aggressive styling. The focus on performance and handling was further emphasized, with the model continuing to offer strong appeal to driving enthusiasts.

5th Generation (2022–Present)

The latest generation, introduced for the 2022 model year, brings a new platform, updated styling, and further enhancements in performance and technology. It continues to offer both WRX and WRX STI variants.
