Best of the 2024 Nissan Model Lineup

The US Becomes Nissan’s Most Important Market

Front-angled view of a Grey Nissan Z sports car

Quick Nav

Nissan is one of the leading Asian carmakers, with almost $80 billion worth of sales in 2022. In 2023, the United States emerged as the carmaker’s most important market, with sales rising 23% to almost 900,000 vehicles.

There have been some changes to the carmaker’s model lineup for 2024. The flagship Maxima sedan has been retired, and the LEAF EV is on its last legs. However, there is still plenty in Nissan’s inventory to compete rigorously in the market.

Nissan is also planning to expand its footprint in the EV segment with its ‘Ambition 30’ plan, which aims to introduce 27 electrified vehicles by 2030.

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $29,700 USD /  $40,258 CAD
  • Engine: 1.5L turbocharged inline-3
  • Power / Torque: 201 hp /  225 lb-ft
  • Transmission: all-wheel-drive
  • 0-60 mph: 7.8 seconds
  • Fuel Economy: 28 MPG (city) | 8.4 L/100 km /  35 MPG | 6.7 L/100 km (highway)
  • Basic Warranty: 3 years /  36,000 miles (60,000 km)

Our Take

The Rogue underwent a design overhaul for the 2021 MY and still stands out with its clean lines and sharp styling. The midsize SUV is more than just looks, though. The ride quality is first-class, and the driving experience is further elevated by an extremely comfortable cabin layout. Little surprise then that the Rogue emerged as MotorTrend’s choice for the Number 1 Compact SUV in 2023.

2024 Nissan Ariya Venture+

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $47,190 USD /  $63,966 CAD
  • Engine: current-excited synchronous AC Motor
  • Power / Torque: 238 hp /  221 lb-ft
  • Drivetrain: FWD
  • 0-60 mph: 7.5 seconds
  • Fuel Economy:111 MPGe (city) | 2.1 L/100 km /  95 MPGe | 2.5 L/100 km (highway)
  • Range: 304 miles (489 km)
  • Basic Warranty: 3 years /  36,000 miles (60,000 km)

Our Take

The Ariya, new for the 2023 MY, joined the LEAF as Nissan’s all-electric vehicles in the model lineup. It’s only been in the market for a short while, but its bold design has already caught the attention of the car community. The Ariya also boasts up to 300 miles of driving range and is a much more exciting prospect than the outgoing LEAF.

2024 Nissan Z Performance

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $52,310 USD /  $70,906 CAD
  • Engine: 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6
  • Power / Torque: 400 hp /  350 lb-ft
  • Transmission: RWD
  • 0-60 mph: 4.1 seconds
  • Fuel Economy: 19 MPG (city) | 12.4 L/100 km /  28 MPG | 8.7 L/100 km (highway)
  • Basic Warranty: 3 years /  36,000 miles (60,000 km)

Our Take

The Z is arguably one of Asia’s most iconic sports cars. The seventh generation debuted for the 2023 MY and has continued to impress in a highly competitive segment. The Z beat off rivals to emerge as the 2023 SEMA Sport Compact of the Year. The NISMO-badged Z is tempting, but the mid-range Performance spec should be enough for most enthusiasts. The Z Performance comes with upgraded brakes, 19-inch wheels and a sportier suspension tune compared to the base trim.

2024 Nissan Versa SR

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $20,400 USD /  $27,652 CAD
  • Engine: 1.6L inline-4
  • Power / Torque: 122 hp /  114 lb-ft
  • Transmission: FWD
  • 0-60 mph: 9.5 seconds
  • Fuel Economy: 32 MPG (city) | 7.4 L/100 km / 40 MPG | 5.9 L/100 km (highway)
  • Basic Warranty: 3 years /  36,000 miles (60,000 km)

Our Take

The compact sedan is one of the best bargain deals on the market today, so long as acceleration is not a priority. Apart from a very attractive sticker price, the Versa is extremely fuel-efficient. That feature, combined with a surprisingly comfortable ride, makes it the ideal city vehicle. We would go straight for the top trim, the SR. It is a sub-$25,000 package that still gets you features like LED headlights, remote start, 17-inch wheels and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

2024 Nissan Sentra SV

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $21,820 USD /  $29,577 CAD
  • Engine: 2.0L inline-4
  • Power / Torque: 149 hp /  146 lb-ft
  • Transmission: FWD
  • 0-60 mph:8.1 seconds
  • Fuel Economy: 30 MPG (city) | 7.8 L/100 km /  40 MPG | 5.9 L/100 km (highway)
  • Basic Warranty: 3 years /  36,000 miles (60,000 km)

Our Take

Like its smaller sibling (the Versa), one of the Sentra’s main selling points is its pocket-friendly prices. However, Nissan has kept the model relevant in the lineup with a design update and refresh for the 2024 MY. The 2024 Sentra now boasts new headlights and taillights with a tweaked bumper design. The mid-range SV trim is only a few hundred dollars from the base spec, but it comes with niceties such as heated front seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat and a sunroof.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder SL

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $44,400 USD /  $60,184 CAD
  • Engine: 3.5L naturally aspirated V6
  • Power / Torque: 284 hp /  259 lb-ft
  • Transmission: 4-wheel-drive
  • 0-60 mph: 6.7 seconds
  • Fuel Economy: 21 MPG (city) | 11.2 L/100 km /  27 MPG | 8.7 L/100 km (highway)
  • Basic Warranty: 3 years /  36,000 miles (60,000 km)

Our Take

The Pathfinder’s upscale design is not just about aesthetics. The carmaker’s emphasis on safety is underscored by a Top Safety Pick+ rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The three-row SUV excels with a pleasant driving experience, impressive towing capacity, and an extensive suite of driver assistance aids.

2024 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab SV

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $34,130 USD /  $46,263 CAD
  • Engine: 3.8L naturally aspirated V6
  • Power / Torque: 310 hp /  281 lb-ft
  • Transmission: 4-wheel-drive
  • 0-60 mph: 7.3 seconds
  • Fuel Economy: 17 MPG (city) | 13.8 L/100 km /  22 MPG | 10.7 L/100 km (highway)
  • Basic Warranty: 3 years /  36,000 miles (60,000 km)

Our Take

The Frontier’s versatility as a midsize pickup lags behind rivals such as the Toyota Tacoma and the GMC Canyon. However, it more than makes up for that shortcoming with a value-oriented pricing structure across several trim levels. The Crew Cab SV would be our ideal choice, with the crew cab being the larger of the two available cab sizes. The available Convenience and Technology packages add additional features like blind-spot monitoring, trailer hitch and rear automated emergency braking.

2024 Nissan Kicks SR

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $23,610 USD /  $32,003 CAD
  • Engine: 1.6L naturally aspirated inline-4
  • Power / Torque: 122 hp /  114 lb-ft
  • Transmission: FWD
  • 0-60 mph: 9.7 seconds
  • Fuel Economy: 31 MPG (city) | 7.6 L/100 km /  36 MPG | 6.5 L/100 km (highway)
  • Basic Warranty: 3 years /  36,000 miles (60,000 km)

Our Take

The Nissan Kicks may not be your best option if driving engagement is what you are after. Where this small crossover truly shines is its attractive price point, undercutting most of its rivals like the Mazda CX-30, Kia Niro and Volkswagen Taos by several thousands of dollars. The top-spec SR Trim is well below $30,000 and you get many desirable items like adaptive cruise control, 17-inch wheels and a center-console armrest.
