2023 U.S. Automotive Sales by Brand – The Best-Selling Automotive Brands By Sales Volume

In 2023, the U.S. automotive market experienced notable shifts in brand rankings, with several manufacturers achieving significant sales milestones. Toyota and Ford led the market, selling almost 2 million vehicles each. Chevrolet secured the third position, delivering 1.7 million vehicles, substantial growth compared to 2022. Honda and Nissan occupied the fourth and fifth spots, with Honda’s sales surging, while Nissan also experienced a strong increase. Hyundai and Kia also demonstrated strong performances. Lexus followed and Mercedes-Benz was flat year on year. Audi made some headway in a tough year. Overall, the U.S. auto industry faced challenges such as chip shortages and labor strikes in 2023. Despite these hurdles, total vehicle sales surpassed 16 million units, the highest since 2019.
