Sports car sales have softened over the last few decades and with just 124,565 sales in 2022, it was another soft year. The Chevrolet Corvette tops the list for 2022, thanks in large part to huge demand for its mid-engined C8 Corvette.
The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette is Chevy’s first mid-engine Corvette. It is available in both coupe and convertible body styles, and is powered by a 6.2L V8 engine that produces 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. The Corvette can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, and has a top speed of 194 mph. The Corvette is also available with a variety of features, including a magnetic ride control suspension, a performance data recorder, and a head-up display. It also comes standard with a Chevrolet Performance Package Z51, which includes a performance-tuned suspension, upgraded brakes, and a limited-slip differential.
The second placed Subaru Impreza WRX saw a 31% decline to just 18,662 units, while the rest of the top 10 all saw declines versus 2021. The once mighty Mazda MX-5 Miata and Toyota Supra were both down double digits for the year. The Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ both came out of the gates strong, both growing.
