Africa Passenger Car Sales for 2022
In 2022, African motorists purchased around 641k passenger cars. In 2022, Morocco contributed around 143k cars to the continent’s passenger car sales, while South Africa remains the largest passenger vehicle market in Africa. South African passenger car sales account for about 38.5 percent of the continent’s sales volume. Egypt saw a big decline, down 38% to 134k new cars sold.
The indicator estimates the number of new passenger car registrations and sales that took place within a country in a year. Passenger cars are road motor vehicles, other than a motor cycle, intended for the carriage of passengers and designed to seat no more than nine persons (including the driver).
