Overall, 2019 presented a challenging year for car sales in Australia and Oceania. Both Australia and New Zealand experienced a decline in sales, reflecting economic factors and weaker consumer sentiment. Car sales in Australia in 2019 showed a significant decline compared to the previous year. In New Zealand, car sales experienced a modest decline in 2019. Total new vehicle registrations reached 154,224, marking a decrease of approximately 4.3% compared to the previous year. The decline was influenced by factors such as economic uncertainty and tighter lending conditions. Toyota remained the top-selling brand, followed by Ford and Mitsubishi. The Ford Ranger and Toyota Corolla were among the popular models. Passenger cars declined too, down 3.77% versus prior year.
