Hummer H2
Here you will find yearly Canadian and U.S. sales figures for the Hummer H2. These statistics include sales figures of the Hummer H2 SUT pickup. The Hummer H2 was a large SUV (and later SUT, or Sport Utility Truck) produced by General Motors under the Hummer brand. It was introduced in 2002 and was in production until 2009. The H2 was designed as a “smaller” (though still quite large by typical standards) alternative to the original H1, which was based on the military Humvee.
Hummer H2 Overview
While it was indeed smaller than the H1, the H2 was still a very large vehicle, emphasizing its off-road capabilities and imposing stance. It had a distinctive design that was unmistakably “Hummer,” including a broad, flat front end and wide wheel arches. The H2 shared a platform and components with other GM trucks, like the Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Silverado, but with significant modifications for enhanced off-road capabilities.
Over its production lifespan, the H2 was offered with several V8 engines, including a 6.0L and a more powerful 6.2L. These engines were mated to automatic transmissions. The H2 was renowned for its off-road prowess. It had a high ground clearance, short overhangs, and a sophisticated 4WD system, making it suitable for a variety of challenging terrains.
Inside, the H2 offered a mix of rugged design and luxury features, reflecting its premium market positioning. It could accommodate up to six passengers. In addition to the regular SUV model, GM introduced the H2 SUT (Sport Utility Truck) in 2005. The SUT variant featured a small pickup bed behind the rear passenger compartment.
The Hummer brand faced challenges during the late 2000s, especially during the economic downturn and as environmental concerns gained prominence. Production of the H2 ceased in 2009, and General Motors subsequently tried to sell the Hummer brand, but the deal didn’t materialize, leading to the brand’s discontinuation.
Hummer H2 Sales Figures
The H2 was known for its large size, powerful engine, and off-road capability. It was a popular choice for celebrities and those who wanted a vehicle that was both stylish and capable. The H2 was discontinued following the 2010 model year. It was replaced by the Hummer H3.
