Volkswagen CC Overview
The Volkswagen CC is a four-door sedan that was introduced by the German automaker Volkswagen (VW) to provide a more stylish and upscale alternative to the more conventional Passat on which it was based. “CC” stands for “Comfort Coupe,” which reflects the car’s design – a blend between a coupe and a sedan. The Volkswagen CC was first introduced in 2008 and was positioned as a more premium, “four-door coupe” variant of the Volkswagen Passat.
The CC’s design was more dynamic and sportier than the traditional Passat. It featured a sleek roofline, frameless windows, and an overall more aerodynamic shape. This “four-door coupe” design was inspired by high-end luxury vehicles that aimed to combine the sportiness of coupes with the practicality of sedans. The interior was also more upscale, with premium materials, advanced infotainment options, and comfortable seating. The Volkswagen CC was offered with a range of engines during its production run, from efficient four-cylinder turbocharged engines to more powerful V6 options. Both manual and automatic transmissions were available, and certain models also came with Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.
Volkswagen CC Sales Figures
The Volkswagen CC was generally well-received for its blend of style, comfort, and performance at a more accessible price point than luxury-branded competitors. It appealed to buyers who wanted something different from the usual mid-size sedan but without moving into the luxury price bracket. Production of the Volkswagen CC ended in 2017. It was effectively replaced by the Volkswagen Arteon, a model that continued the four-door coupe ethos but with a more modern design and updated features.
