Subaru Legacy Sales Figures

Subaru Legacy

Here you will find monthly and yearly Canadian, European and U.S. sales figures for the Subaru Legacy. Prior to 2009 Legacy sales included sales of the Outback. The Subaru Legacy is a mid-size car introduced by Subaru in 1989. Recognized for its all-wheel-drive (AWD) capability, the Legacy has a strong reputation for reliability, safety, and comfort. It has long served as Subaru’s answer to other popular sedans in its segment, with the added differentiation of standard AWD.

Subaru Legacy Overview

The Subaru Legacy was introduced to replace the Subaru Leone and quickly became the flagship sedan for the brand. Over its life, the Legacy has seen multiple generations, with each bringing refinements in terms of design, technology, and performance. The Legacy, like other Subaru models, is powered by Subaru’s signature boxer (horizontally opposed) engines. These engines are known for their balance and low center of gravity. Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD is standard on the Legacy, setting it apart from many competitors in the mid-size sedan segment.

The Legacy has been a consistent performer for Subaru, especially in markets like North America, where its AWD capability gives it an edge in regions with snowy or rainy conditions. The current Legacy is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. It is available with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions. A 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is also available, producing 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque.

The Legacy is available in seven trim levels: Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, Touring, Limited XT, and GT. The Base trim comes standard with features like a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth, and a rearview camera. The Premium trim adds features like an 8-speaker sound system, a sunroof, and heated front seats. The Sport trim adds features like a sport-tuned suspension and 18-inch wheels. The Limited trim adds features like a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. The Touring trim adds features like a navigation system, a power liftgate, and a heated steering wheel. The Limited XT is the most powerful Legacy and adds a turbocharged engine, 19-inch wheels, and a sport-tuned suspension. The GT is the top-of-the-line Legacy and adds features like a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and a power-adjustable passenger seat.

The Legacy has been praised for its all-wheel drive system, spacious interior, and comfortable ride. It has also been awarded several awards, including the 2023 IIHS Top Safety Pick+.
