Infiniti QX56 Sales Figures

Infiniti QX56

The Infiniti QX56 is a full-sized luxury SUV that was produced by Infiniti, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. Introduced in 2004, the QX56 was the first Infiniti SUV to be built in the United States and was initially based on the Nissan Armada, which itself shared a platform with the Nissan Titan pickup truck.

Infiniti QX56 Overview

The first generation arrived in 2004 and had a distinct design with a large chrome grille, unique headlight clusters, and an upscale interior. It was powered by a 5.6-liter V8 engine, producing around 315 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. This engine was paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Being a luxury SUV, the QX56 came well-equipped with features like leather seating, a navigation system, DVD entertainment, and three rows of seating to accommodate seven or eight passengers.

The second generation arrived in 2011 and the QX56 received a comprehensive redesign for its second generation, featuring smoother, more modern lines and a more refined interior. The 5.6-liter V8 engine was updated, delivering around 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. This was paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Infiniti added even more luxury and technological features in this generation, including an around-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and more. Starting from the 2014 model year, Infiniti changed its naming convention, and the QX56 was renamed the “QX80”. Thus, while the QX56 name was retired, the vehicle itself continued as the QX80.

Due to its blend of performance, luxury, and capability, the QX56 (and subsequently the QX80) found a niche among buyers looking for a full-size luxury SUV, standing as a competitor to vehicles like the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, and Lexus LX.

While the QX56/QX80 was primarily targeted at the North American market, it also found buyers in regions like the Middle East, where large luxury SUVs are popular.
