Nissan Juke
The Nissan Juke is a compact crossover SUV that has made a significant impact in the auto industry since its introduction, primarily due to its polarizing and distinctive design. The Juke was introduced in 2010, targeting younger buyers looking for a fun and different urban car.
Nissan Juke Overview
The Nissan Juke is known for its quirky and unconventional looks, which set it apart from most of its competitors. Its high-mounted front headlights and separate, rounded signal lamps are among its most distinctive features. The design is often described as a blend of an SUV and a sports car, with coupe-like lines and hidden rear door handles to accentuate its sporty character.
At launch, its design was polarizing: some appreciated its unique looks, while others found it too unconventional. Nevertheless, its distinct design helped it gain attention and, ultimately, a strong following. One of the standout features of the Juke, especially in certain markets, was the availability of a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which added a sporty edge to its performance. The Juke was powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 188 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. It is available with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions.
The Juke is available in two body styles: a five-door hatchback and a four-door crossover. It is also available in a variety of trim levels, including the base Juke, the Nismo, and the Nismo RS. The Juke NISMO and NISMO RS versions, introduced later, pushed the performance boundaries even further, with tweaks to the engine, suspension, and design to offer a sportier driving experience.
In 2019, Nissan introduced a second-generation Juke, primarily for the European market. This new version maintained the quirky design elements of its predecessor but in a more refined and matured manner. The second-generation model is built on the CMF-B platform, shared with other Nissan and Renault vehicles, and features updated technology, safety features, and improved interior quality.
Nissan Juke Sales Figures
The Juke has been sold in numerous markets worldwide, including Europe, North America, and Asia. It’s worth noting that the Juke’s reception and popularity varied across these markets, with particularly strong sales in Europe.
